Starting to learn guitar is one the best things that you can do. My longest friendships, greatest adventures and more than one girlfriend, all came about because I took guitar lessons. I actually got to travel overseas, and got paid to do it, all because I learned the guitar. And I started just like you. It was difficult at first, and I almost quit a few times, but I persevered until I could start playing songs. And I can tell you from personal experience, when you pull out a guitar at a party, and start playing, the girls start looking at you in a whole new way!

A lot of teenagers want to be “rock gods”. Hey, so did I! Even though that never happened, so many other good things did come about because I learned guitar that it doesn’t matter that I never made the “big time.” Making the “small time” is so much fun that you won’t care. No matter your motivation, as long as you have the desire, it will come true.
Just remember, any “guitar rock God” that you can name started out just like you. It was awkward and uncomfortable and they said to themselves “this is too hard, I’ll never get it right.” But they kept on playing and eventually they did get it right. So will you. Just when you think it is not going to happen, all of a sudden your playing starts sounding clean. Your friends won’t believe it when listening to a song you tell them “I can play that.” Then you pick up your guitar, start playing and their mouths fall open. Just wait, it will happen to you just like it has happened to all of us who took guitar lessons.
